INVITATION:
Whether you are a longtime Friend, a first-time visitor, simply curious about Quakerism, or just looking for a quiet place to reflect, we’re glad you’re here.
You are welcome, neighbor, traveler, and visitor alike. Join us for unprogrammed Meeting for Worship, a time of shared silence and reflection in which anyone may sit in quiet contemplation or, if moved to do so, share a thought or concern.
You do not need to be a Quaker to join us, and you do not need to know what to expect before you arrive. Come as you are, take a seat among us, and experience a living Quaker tradition centered on peace, truth, love, and our shared search for the Inner Light.
HISTORY:
Our meeting takes place in a remarkable historic setting. The Quaker Street Meeting House has stood since 1807, continuing a Quaker presence in the historic hamlet of Quaker Street in the Town of Duanesburg, NY that reaches back to the eighteenth century. More than two centuries later, this humble meeting house remains an active place of worship, reflection, peace, and community.
An Historic Setting
“In the depth of common worship it is as if we found our separate lives were all one life.”
Thomas R. Kelly,
Quaker writer and educator
“Friends, meet together and know one another in that which is eternal, which was before the world was.”
George Fox,
founder of the Religious Society of Friends
